Of all the things in this world Elijah will never be able to do, he can do the one thing that is most important: he knows how to love! He may not be able to express it with words, but he loves.
Thank you, friends and family, for helping us celebrate the gift of Elijah! Your phone calls, cards, presence at his party, and gifts were all so sweet. We love you.
Somehow I overlooked the fact that we only had three matches in the house. The little breeze we had extinguished all three, so we sang happy birthday but didn't blow out the candles!
This is how Elijah enjoyed his cake (mainly "playing" with it). He even tried a tiny crumb I put in his mouth without reacting.

Elijah had to try out his new sunglasses; after all, he is two years old now and practically a grown-up. Don't you think they make him look cool?

3. Wyatt is turning five next week. Birthdays are hard for our family....bittersweet. We are thankful for how far they have come but feel sad for all they have missed. I am thankful you are doing well and enjoyed celebrating your boy.
Looks like Elijah feels pretty loved:) You guys are great parents. I like the look on his face about the cake. He makes such good expressions when you put things in his fingers like frosting....or worms:) we love you Elijah!

I sure wish I could've been there to help celebrate Elijah's birthday. Everyone should have worn shades since the Birthday Boy had such a wonderful glow! 8-)
Visiting your blog sometimes brings back memories of my niece Allison who also had special needs... Elijah's smiles and his whole being seems to radiate LOVE! That's how Alli felt to me... from the top of her head to the tips of her toes... full of love!
